04/06/2003 Entry: "Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome"

So apparently there are 4 cases of SARS in Illinois at the moment, one of which was allegedly actually reported in Chinatown and has one of the clinics at the New Chinatown Square closed.

This is frightening because I was actually at that square about a week and a half ago, and I started feeling sick a few days after that visit.

Fortunately, no known deaths from SARS have occurred in the US despite a total number of around 120 cases. And I'm feeling better now.

Here's to hoping.

Influenza kills tens of thousands of people a year... how many has SARS killed? Not even 200? What are you worried about? Only people that should care are those that are old and/or have a weak immune system.
