06/16/2003 Entry: "Dumbest Dream Ever"

I went to bed at around 3 AM last night, which would usually suggest I would wake up sometime around noon today. Instead I woke up at 9 AM. Usually I have some nice dreams, or at least vaguely normal ones. This one really did suck, though.

So we were yakking it up on IRC, back on opn, when some random staffer goons come into the channel and serve a bunch of us some sort of notices. I don't really remember it clearly, but it was some sort of typical lilo new-speak. I say a bunch of us, but the only other person specifically named in the dream was tom. Apparently they formed some sort of task force to study our rule of totalitarian despotism.

Anyway, that's why I woke up at around 8:30 instead of noon.

Funny, I was going to post about a dumb dream I had, it wasn't about irc though. I was having an afternnon nap, and I dreamt I woke up. Only I found I couldn't open my eyes properly, and there were strange pixelated mario-like figures dancing across my vision. The dumbest thing is, I actually thought "hmm, am I still dreaming?" but concluded that I was awake, even as the mario-like figures were dancing a jig on my eyeballs.

I've had residual dreams whilst awake before. I remember something happening in my room and my dad walked into the room and I was talking to him. I shook myself awake and the dream ended but my dad was still there - he actually had walked into the room, and I actually was talking to him.

heh jon(d), when i was younger i had that happen to me on several occasions, usually after a nightmare. i'd be sitting awake in my room in wild confusing and then my parents would finally come down to see wtf was wrong, and then after talking for a few seconds i'd suddenly come to....dreaming while awake is freaky

Yeah, residual dreams suck. Fortunately I don't wake up screaming or crying.

And not like my parents would've bothered to come check on me for something like that anyway.
