im savoring socar myles' journal by allowing myself bitesized pieces. however unhealthy it is to find her irresistable, its proof that there are more people to be amazed by than kat. not that i didnt already know that, or wasnt told it on a number of occasions by chris and others, its just theres no point in believing it until you cant deny it. apologies for any of my bullshit that comes out sounding more like a riddle (as kat would tell me) than a coherent thought, im going on 4 hours of sleep, and i worked 12 hours between two jobs, with another 2 hours driving. anyway, i havent felt this energetic in months (i could name the date) and it's not like i have had any time these past couple days to do much of anything but zone out scanning/reading/working.

i also finished that book: htm or txt, and a cover. the major difference between the formats is i surrounded text that was italicized in htm with underscores. and i made a little horiz. rule replacement art. and uh, thats it really. [more]

Ok so anyway, I was talking to my parents about #doomcon2, and they had a few suggestions.

1) If we hold it starting on the 15th, my dad can help with picking people up.
2) Midway is quite a bit further to drive from my house, and it actually cuts through Chicago, and O'Hare is actually on the outskirts of Chicago in our direction, so ORD is preferable to MDW by quite a bit.
3) If we extend it to the 19th, then my dad can help with sending people off.

Discuss, those of you who are still actually coming.

"The water lapped against the bank where the fishermen were, and I sat down to watch them. I really was in no hurry at all, no more than they were. I'd pretty well come to the point, the age, you might say, when a man knows what he's losing with every hours that passes. But he hasn't yet built up the wisdom to pull up sharp on the road of time, and anyway, even if you did stop you wouldn't know what to do without the frenzy for going forward that has possessed you and won your admiration ever since you were young. Even now you're not as pleased with your youth as you used to be, but you don't yet dare admit in public that youth may be nothing more than a hurry to grow old." -- From Journey to the End of the Night [more]

The new Muse single "Stockholm Syndrome" gets released on Muse-Official.com tomorrow, I can hardly wait.

There's a pretty interesting interview with Muse here. Matt Bellamy the lead singer/songwriter usually comes off as a bit of a waffling lunatic in interviews, but he says some very interesting things in this one, especially about politics and whether "celebrities" should become involved and about the process of making new music. Its translated from Dutch and you have to wade through crap from the muse-official message board retards to read it all, but its worth it.

I recently recovered my c:\stuff directory from ye olde hard drive. I'm in the process of sorting out all the interesting stuff from the warez and crap. I'm not sure it qualifies as "interesting" but I did find some poetry I wrote some years back and had forgotten about. [more]

[16:33:22] <@jon^c> how would you like it served?
[16:33:54] <@arioch> cold and bloody
[16:33:57] <@jon^c> "i shit bats" goth-style or "im a socially capable family get-together real awesome guy!"
[16:34:09] <@arioch> I shit bats

Already mad that my guitar would not be delivered on the fourth, I eventually left my house around nine or ten in the morning. About half a dozen times I got stuck in near standstil traffic on either I-495 or I-95. Only once was there even evidence of a serious accident, and since I saw no blood anywhere I got even angrier that these fucks would slow traffic down for miles to stare at a person standing on the side of the road. Also it was something like ninety degrees fahrenheit _before_ my car ovenized that to over a hundred im sure. I like heat don't get me wrong, I was more worried about the car overheating. I just had my window down and turned on the "blend" fan setting on high (that stops it from overheating I think, or Im just an idiot). I was wearing jeans, a t-shirt, a long sleeved shirt, and another t-shirt over that. I could live in the desert. [more]

Ok, so aur definitely cannot make it in on the 14th. Which means we will have to arrange a way for him to get to my house on the 15th.

We have 2 ideas at the moment.

One is that we will go back into the Chicago area for the evening, dine out, etc. I suggest either the Chicago Chop House (shirt and slacks attire, great steak place) or Bob Chinn's Crab House (one of the best seafood places in the nation, and tee/shorts are fine). At this early time we would be able to reserve seats, but I'd need a count of how many people are going to show up.

The other is that he find a train or taxi to get over here. This is slightly less desirable.

Ok yeah the first time they lost my scanner. Claimed to have delivered it to "the side door" but despite my meticulous search of the surrounding area, no parcel could be found. They eventually credited me and I drove to the bloody office supply store and bought the same model for the same price. This was after a dozen calls back and forth with some guy in charge of investigating it. [more]
