Doom Builder is a really great level editor. It's fast, windows native, has DCK style sector drawing, has an awesome 3D editing mode and it's free; in short everything I've ever wanted (whether I realised it or not) from a Doom level editor. And you know what? I still can't think up any good designs or be bothered finishing my half-done levels. I still have a go for ten minutes or so before getting bored and doing something else. I'm still a total failure at making Doom levels.
It's just that now I can't blame the level editor for being crap.

I suppose it's that time again. It'll take as long to get organized, and for some people to save up the necessary funds to participate (cough tobester cough). So all those interested send off an email to me with your crap, amazon wishlist, mailing address, links to some technogeek hardware products you absolutely cant live without etc.

I booked Thursday and Friday off from work and tomorrow I'll be heading off to Leeds music festival for the next fourish days. We're heading off at 10:45am for some reason, which should mean that we arrive pretty early and get to spend the day relaxing (drinking). I wasn't going to go this year due to lack of money, but then my friends bought me a ticket for my birthday so it's all cool.
There's not a particularly fantastic lineup this year: Metallica are headlining the first day, I only really want to hear stuff from the Black Album, but maybe the newer stuff will be better live. Linkin Park are headlining the second day, say no more. Blur are headlining the last day, they're pretty good, but their guitarist left the band recently, and their latest album stuff sounds pretty shit.
I'll be back home on Monday and back to work on Tuesday. After working for eight weeks straight this is basically going to be my summer holiday, so it'd better be good.

So during the tea break at work today the women in the office were discussing getting married and having kids. One of the women, who's about 30 and has been living with some guy for 4 years, said she didn't really ever want to get married or to have children. Later on this got me thinking, why do people have children? Considering the amount of money and effort you have to put into them and the amount of freedom you usually have to give up, why on earth do people bother? So I was thinking about it, and I came up with what I think are the five main reasons why people have children: [more]

I can't remember my 13th birthday, but I doubt the day in 1996 that ushered in my teenage years was any more exciting than it was memorable. Yesterday I turned 20, and in a fitting reflection of the last seven years it was spent mostly sitting around in my house and wasting time on my computer, before going out, drinking alcohol, and failing to score, towards the end. The day is hot, the Capulets abroad,
And, if we meet, we shall not scape a brawl;
For now, these hot days, is the mad blood stirring.It's hot, and it's only getting hotter.

Today was my last day of work. Towards the end of last semester I got an interview to do some kinda internship with the county. I went there in June at some point and they explained it was some internship the county organized every year for college students. Essentially as long as you weren't a complete moron you got to pick from this bigass pool of county jobs, on a first come basis (people who participated in previous years also got priority). So I picked working for the county Bureau of Emergency Services, which is the office in charge of the county paramedics, fire departments, ambulances and hazmat team. Whee. [more]
